Paediatric Surgeon & Paediatric Urologist
After obtaining her medical degree, Dr Krishnan completed a 6 year training program in paediatric surgery in a high volume tertiary care children’s hospital in Mumbai, India. On completion of her training, she was awarded the Gold Medal in Paediatric Surgery by the Vice President of India. In pursuit of further international experience and focused specialty training, Janani and her husband moved to Sydney. After completing a dedicated fellowship year in paediatric urology at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, Janani completed the rest of the training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and Monash Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Having obtained the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Janani moved to beautiful North Queensland with her family to work as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon in Townsville University Hospital.
Dr Krishnan understands the value of keeping the family close to home especially when a child needs an operation. She aims to reduce the stress of the families by travelling between Cairns and Townsville to help her patients recover in the comfort of their homes.
Having spent several years training and moving, Janani values her supportive family the most. The sands and the seas sum up the weekends with her son and husband. Swimming and juggling (work and family) are her best non surgical skills.
