Tongue Tie Release
About tongue tie release:
A tongue tie occurs due to a prominent lingual frenulum. Those babies who have been assessed by a lactation consultant and have found to have restriction of feeding, are suited for a tongue tie release. Not all prominent lingual frenulums are restrictive, hence it is important to have had a feeding assessment to confirm feeding restriction.
The procedure is performed in the rooms only in babies under 3 months of age. A quick snip with a pair of scissors will release the tie and the baby can breastfeed immediately after. The baby is best brought in before a feed is due so that the baby is settled with a feed immediately after the procedure. Please call the practice for any further questions prior to the appointment. Dr Krishnan will be happy to discuss the procedure and provide you with further information.
